Starting the School Year With High Expectations

Welcome back to school! At Flamboyan, we believe it is important to start with the end in mind. High expectations are the beginning factors that help ensure that children have the opportunity to be successful and that their families have the tools they need to support their children. By beginning with expectations, we define success early.

This school year, as in the past, we will continue to support high expectations for teachers through trainings for home visits, academic partnering meetings, and ongoing communication, which give teachers the tools they need to work with families as assets in improving academic achievement.

Flamboyan works with 58 traditional public and charter schools in Washington, D.C. to implement strategies that allow families and teachers to work together on setting goals that reflect high expectations for student achievement. At the school level, our work is results-driven as we coach school leaders to define, measure, and meet expectations.

Schools in our Family Engagement Partnership (FEP) go on to create a culture that welcomes, honors, and encourages family engagement, listens to families, and uses learnings to improve the work. We are proud to say that our partnership schools are the building blocks for academic success because they prioritize engaging families. We look forward to celebrating family engagement success across Washington, D.C. this school year.
