Guides on Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and culture app from Bloomberg Philanthropies, bring collections, exhibits, and more to anyone in the world and enhance onsite visits to cultural organizations

Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Flamboyan Foundation’s Arts Fund have announced that Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and culture app, has launched new digital guides for select cultural institutions in San Juan, Puerto Rico. These guides offer expert insights on a range of exciting collections and make them accessible to in-person visitors and audiences around the globe via mobile devices. The Bloomberg Connects app provides a centralized resource for people interested in exploring Puerto Rico’s rich cultural offerings and is available in more than 40 languages. The following Puerto Rico-based institutions have guides available on the app:

  • Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico
  • Museo de Arte MUSA
  • Museo de los Santos y Arte Nacional (MUSAN)
  • Andanza
  • Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico
  • Fundación Puertorriqueña de las Humanidades
  • La Casa del Libro
  • Museo de las Américas
  • Fundación Luis Muñoz Marín

The addition of new guides for these cultural institutions in Puerto Rico coincides with the island’s busy holiday tourist season, which includes exciting events like Las Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián, an annual celebration that attracts more than 700,000 attendees each January. The guides showcase Puerto Rico’s unique cultural offerings and build on Bloomberg Philanthropies’ support for the arts in Puerto Rico, including the Arts Innovation and Management Puerto Rico program, which was a collaboration between Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Flamboyan Arts Fund, and a recent Asphalt Art Initiative installation in San Juan.  This collaboration supports one of the Flamboyan Arts Fund’s main strategies of amplifying the work the island’s artistic and cultural organizations do.

Visit the Bloomberg Connects website for more information. The app is available for download from Google Play or the App Store.

ABOUT FLAMBOYAN ARTS FUND: The Flamboyan Arts Fund is a partnership between Flamboyan Foundation, Lin-Manuel Miranda, his family, and the Broadway musical Hamilton to preserve, amplify, and sustain the arts in Puerto Rico. Since Hurricane María devastated the island, many artists and arts organizations like museums, theaters, arts education programs, and music venues are at risk of cutting back services or closing. The fund supports all facets of the arts community, including music, theater, visual arts, dance, literature, and youth arts education to ensure that the arts and culture continue to flourish during the rebuilding of Puerto Rico.
