SOAR Grant Support’s Flamboyan’s Family Engagement Work in D.C. Public Charter Schools

Flamboyan Foundation has been awarded a new grant to support its family engagement work in seven D.C. public charter schools. The Scholarships for Opportunities and Results (SOAR) Act grant, awarded and administered by the D.C. Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), will fund Flamboyan’s ongoing work with Excel Academy PCS, Center City PCS-Capitol Hill, D.C. Bilingual PCS, Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom PCS, Bridges PCS, Mundo Verde PCS, and Capital City PCS Lower School for two years.

The two-year grant award is $498,485. SOAR funding will ensure the teachers in these schools receive the training, tools, coaching, and financial support to build trusting relationships with families, engage families as partners in their student’s academic success, and communicate consistently and meaningfully with them.
