Flamboyan Foundation has hired Patience Peabody as senior managing director of communications. With extensive experience leading marketing and communications within the government and nonprofit sectors, Patience will oversee Flamboyan’s strategic communications in Washington, D.C. Most recently, Patience served as the Director of Communications and Community Engagement at D.C.’s state education agency, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) where she had responsibility for communications, brand, digital media, internal communications, crisis communications, and co-led the agency’s internal culture work. Prior to joining OSSE, Patience had leadership positions at several national nonprofits including serving as Vice President of Communications and Creative at the poverty-alleviation organization, LIFT, where she oversaw internal and external communications and brand.

Patience supports several local and national charities and is a board member of New Futures, an organization helping young people forge pathways to financial stability through post-secondary scholarships, academic advising, and career coaching. She holds an Executive Master of Global Strategic Communication from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Hampton University.
